Capacity Building
For a Health System to work in sync without fragments, strong building blocks are needed. Building blocks of a health system are divided into domains of service delivery, workforce, information systems, access to medicine & equipment, financing, and leadership/governance. Strengthening the current US building blocks requires active engagement from various stakeholders. Individuals and organizations have power and strength that need to be tapped in order to strengthen a better US Public Health System that is supportive to not only consumers but also the workforce. Sessions of capacity building I facilitate could be customized depending on the organizational needs. Capacity building of my expertise is in the domains of leadership/governance, access to medicine & equipment, healthcare & social/behavioral workforce, and service delivery.
Leadership or Governance
In a democratic nation, administrators are not the only ones who determine the direction of the health of a nation. Grassroots and community members hold the power. Stakeholder engagement is needed to ensure the system responds adequately to the US public health needs.
Workforce
Like other developed nations, the US is facing challenge in meeting demands and ways to create a sustainable system. Ensuring the system is centering the people who do and will do the work and prioritize their well-being is an indicator of a robust health system.
Service Delivery
Delivering services that honor a whole-person and based on value instead of capitation require not only innovation but also evidence-based and implementation of bioethics.
Access to Medicine & Equipment
Pandemic like COVID-19 and natural disasters disrupt the production, acquisition, and distribution of medicine and medical equipment. However, a coordinated effort can prevent supply & demand shortage and bring a system to equilibrium.
