Val's Work Approach
Thank you for visiting my website to get to know me professionally!
For a bit over a decade, I have worked with various stakeholders in and outside the US in many settings such as government, academic, and industry. My public health approach is honoring what every stakeholder can offer then creating synergy that will be building blocks for a stronger US health system. I am translating theory & research into practical solutions for both health and social science implementation.
Even though you hire me as an individual public health consultant or contractor or advisor, I will be working together with your organization and its functions (internal and external stakeholders). In the case of community members or individual client, I will take time to build trust then move the project or session based on the speed of trust and meet the community and individual client where they are.
My research methods: quantitative, qualitative, community based participatory, mixed-method, exploratory, and pilot.
Framework and approach: Multilevel (primary to quaternary) prevention, PRECEDE-PROCEED model, system work, human centered design, trauma informed care, gender transformative approach/feminist pedagogy, cultural competence/humility, life course perspective, team science, intersectionality, and (inter-agency/system level & from within) advocacy.
I want to highlight that my work and its ethic is influenced by my mentors, peers, and organizations that I cannot mention one by one here. Thank you to those who have transferred their knowledge to me and certified my skills. I will carry the mission and the legacy to create healthier and prosperous communities, starting locally at my own community.
