Health Education
A health educator is a certified wellness coach who guides individuals choice of lifestyle modification or ones that are prescribed by doctors. A healthy habit is the foundation of prevention and costs less than medication or medical procedure. Oftentimes, lifestyle complements both of those. For individuals with advanced stages of diseases, healthy habits can improve longevity.

Capacity Building
Individuals and organizations have power and strength that need to be tapped in order to strengthen the US Maternal Health infrastructure that is supportive to not only consumers but also the workforce. Sessions of capacity building I facilitate could be customized depending on the organizational needs. Capacity buildings of my expertise are in the domains of leadership/ governance, workforce, access to medicine & equipment, and service delivery.

Training/Technical Assistance (T/TA)
Training includes emergent maternal health & healthcare topics; intersections of business, health, education, social service, and justice; applications of bioethics in day-to-day operation; GBV and synergistic public health response; and more. Technical assistance offered such as grant writing, designing curriculum for programs, public health program or policy evaluation, strategic public health partnerships, and more.

Research Collaboration
I actively seek collaboration opportunities with researchers, community leaders, organizations, funders, and policymakers to advance the field of Maternal & Womxn's Health Policy Research in the United States (US). Collaboration can be in the form of conducting CBPR, quantitative, qualitative, mixed methods, exploratory, and Pilot or even hosting research topic on academic journals.

Birth Doula
Val is completing her Birth Doula Certification
with DONA International. Her passion assisting
expectant parents and newborns (or stillborns)
derived from her mom who is a Midwife,
Val’s previous professional training, & her leadership experience.
In the past, she has worked with diverse clients/populations
including low-Income moms, teenagers, Asian immigrants,
LGBTQIA+ couples, blacks, and people of color
both inside and outside the US.
My Approach & Expertise
I have utilized various frameworks to drive system change in both womxn's and maternal health policy and practice. Primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary prevention is the core of what I am doing. Every stakeholder perspective matters and each of us plays different roles in building healthier communities and a prosperous nation.
